SECTION 171(2) FACTOR
COMMENTS
IMPACT
f)
The impact on the habitat of protected
animals, within the meaning of the
Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016,
Whilst vegetation clearing is proposed to
facilitate the proposed activity, the works
are not anticipated to impact on protected
animals given the disturbed land and extend
of the works. Further, significant trees are
to be protected in the vicinity of the activity
with vegetation stands where appropriate.
Minor
g)
Any endangering of any species of
animal, plant or other form of life,
whether living on land, in water or in
the air.
It is unlikely that the activity will endanger
any species of animal, plant, or other form
of life given the existing disturbed landform
which is not identified as containing
significance biodiversity values.
Nil
h)
Any
long-term
environment.
the
It is unlikely the activity will have any
negative
long-term
effects
on
the
environment given the disturbed land and
the nature of the works proposed which
seek to extend the existing road network.
Nil
i)
Any degradation of the quality of the
environment.
It is not anticipated that the proposal will
result in the degradation of the local
environment given the proposed activity for
a road extension.
The land is highly
disturbed and the proposed activity is only
anticipated
to
results
in
minor
intensifications.
Minor
j)
Any risk to
environment.
the
Risk to the safety of the environment is not
envisaged. The proposed activity seeks to
extend the existing road network which may
be resultant in the removal of redundant
hazardous materials such as asbestoscontaining pipes. Their removal will reduce
the risk to the environment through the
appropriate removal and remediation of
asbestos-containing material.
Nil/Minor
k)
Any reduction in the range of beneficial
uses of the environment.
Reductions in the range of beneficial uses of
the environment are not proposed. The
proposed activity seeks to extend the
existing road network.
Nil
l)
Any pollution of the environment.
Removal of asbestos containing materials
will be undertaken in accordance with the
applicable protocols to minimise the
opportunity to cause pollution of the
surrounding environment.
Construction
impacts, (e.g. noise or dust) can be
mitigated by implementing appropriate
measures.
Minor / ShortTerm
The activity will require any hazardous
materials, e.g., road construction material,
and asbestos-containing material etc. to be
disposed of in accordance with the
applicable waste management guidelines.
Adherence to these guidelines and disposal
at an accredited waste facility would not
result in any environmental problems
associated with the disposal of waste.
