ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
7.1
ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT PLANS (OR SYSTEMS)
Safeguards and management measures have been identified to minimise adverse environmental
impacts which could potentially arise as a result of the project. Should the project proceed, these
recommended management measures will be applied during the construction phase.
Project Environmental Management Plan/s (PEMP) and a CEMP will be required for the proposed
activity. These plans will provide a framework for establishing how these measures will be implemented
and who will be responsible for their implementation.
The plans will be prepared prior to construction and should be reviewed and certified, prior to any
physical work commencing. The CEMP will be a working document, subject to change if necessary. It
is suggested that the currency of the plan is checked should an extended period of time elapse between
its preparation and sign off and actual work commencing.
The CEMP and PEMP will be developed in accordance with the specifications set out in the QA
Specification G36 – Environmental Protection (Management System), QA Specification G38 – Soil and
Water Management (Soil and Water Plan) and QA Specification G10 – Traffic Management.

SUMMARY OF SAFEGUARDS AND MANAGEMENT MEASURES
Environmental safeguards outlined in this document should be incorporated into the construction
management phase of the project. These safeguards when employed properly will minimise the
potential impacts of the project on the surrounding environment. The safeguards and management
measures are summarised in Table 4.

Traffic and Access
ENVIRONMENTAL SAFEGUARDS
A TMP is to be prepared and implemented in •
accordance with the RMS Control
at Worksites Manual (Version 4), Australian Standard 1742.3 Manual of uniform traffic
control devices, and instruction from the Transport Management Centre.
•
Road users, local residents, pedestrians and cyclists are to be informed in
advance of changed conditions, including any likely disruptions to access.
•
Real-time information is to be made available through temporary Variable
Message Signs (VMS), and the media.
•
Materials are to be managed to minimise the number of haulage and delivery
vehicles required on site.
•
Designated site access points and haulage routes are to be used.
Affected areas are to be restored to a condition equivalent to that which existed prior
to the commencement of the work.
Aboriginal Heritage
As identified in the REF, Lot 301 DP1143646 (158 Camden Valley Way) is listed as
potentially having an Aboriginal heritage item. A check of OEH's AHIP Register confirms
an approval to destroy has been issued for this item (AHIP No. C0002506 dated
3/3/2017). It is also noted that the works associated with the project on this site are
located along the immediate frontage of Camden Valley Way and in terms of disturbance
of the ground is considered relatively minor. The Standard Management Procedure –
Unexpected Heritage Items must be followed if a known or potential Aboriginal
object(s), including skeletal remains. An AHIP of transfer of AHIP will be required prior
to the commencement of works. It is recommended that prior to disturbance of the area
