8Rheinbergers Hill9 Cottage
This heritage item9s curtilage has been transformed into a public reserve. 8Rheinbergers Hill9 cottage within
this curtilage is located on the crest of a local hill (Herbert9s Hill) and is bounded by construction fencing to
preserve some privacy and private land associated with the structure. The cottage is currently occupied,
and has been recently restored, with new fabric added, and structural decay addressed.
All previous vegetation present within the curtilage has been removed, and park benches and a shared
bicycle/footpath installed which circles the crest of the hill and joins the paths north and south of the
heritage item which run alongside Camden Valley Way. The former gate structure and a power pole still
remain at the north of the curtilage, at the entrance off Camden Valley Way.
The 8Rheinbergers Hill9 cottage, located on a local high point, has a vantage point which overlooks the
surrounding landscape, and the Nepean River floodplain which extends towards Camden. While some
elements of the original form remain, this item has been substantially transformed, and has a lack of
integrity. Plates Plate 12 to Plate 15 show this item.
