2.3 Summary of the subject area9s historical context
This chapter has explored the regional context and historical development of Camden, and has also
analysed resources available which show development, particularly in the latter 20th Century, of the subject
area. The development which occurred within the subject area, on the basis of this context, can be
summarised as a succession of historical 8phases9, each related to a use or evidence of cultural activity
within the subject area. The identified historical phases of the subject area are presented below in Table 3.
