Review of Environmental Factors - Camden Valley Way Upgrade and Liz Kernohan Drive Extension (Final) - Flipbook - Page 63
6.19 SOCIAL IMPACTS
The proposal is considered to result in positive social impacts through improving the Camden Valley
Way traffic conditions which in outcome increases the efficient use of the road network for road
users.
6.20 ECONOMIC IMPACTS
The road widening activity proposed is anticipated to create local jobs through labour and equipment
hire. Additionally, the new extension facilitated by the proposal will also create both short- and longterm employment through future alteration and scheduled maintained for the road network.
6.21 EUROPEAN HERITAGE
While the location of the proposed works does not contain any items of European heritage
significance, the area of activity is adjacent to Lot 101 in DP1143373 165 and Lot 162 in DP1087243
which are mapped as containing items of local heritage significance listed in the Camden Local
Environmental Plan 2010 (reference: item no I105 Yamba and item no I104 Rheinbergers Hill).
6.21.1 Recommendation 1:
The proposal should comply with the recommendations in the SoHI prepared by Niche Environment
and Heritage, which include, but not limited to the following:
•
•
•
Vegetation clearing in and around Yamba should not negatively impact the fabric of the
structure and work crews must be inducted to this effect.
The proposed works which are conducted in proximity to the southern
structure/cottage at ‘Yamba’ must be, through physical barriers and other
controls, separated from the proposed works in order to prevent physical
impacts to the fabric of this structure.
The e encroachment of the proposed works on heritage curtilage should be
minimised as much as possible, and after the works are completed, the
identified heritage items must be updated with the resultant modification to
their curtilage on council-supplied heritage mapping information.
6.22 CUMULATIVE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS
6.22.1 Existing Environment
Cumulative impacts could be experienced if construction or operation of the project coincided with
construction or operation of other local development, such as other road upgrades, public work or
private development. In this respect, it is noted that whilst the project involves two intersections
within close proximity of each other construction will be undertaken separately to minimise potential
impacts.
6.22.2 Impact Assessment
The severity of potential cumulative impacts will vary between locations and would generally be
dependent on the types of work being carried out, the timing and duration of the work relative to
each other, the distance between the work and the receivers and the sensitivity of the receiver.
For residents and motorists using the local network, coinciding construction activities may result in
a lower visual amenity and air quality environment. These impacts would be short-term and can be
justified by the long-term, positive impacts of the upgrade.
