Measures to avoid and minimise waste associated with the project;
Classification of wastes generated by the project and management options (re-use,
recycle, stockpile, disposal);
Classification of wastes received from off-site for use in the project and management
options; and
Procedures for storage, transport and disposal;
The WMP will be prepared considering the Roads and Maritime Environmental Procedure
– Management of Wastes on Roads and Maritime Services Land and relevant Roads and
Maritime Waste fact sheets.
6.16.6 Recommendation 3:
During construction, Waste is to be classified in accordance with the methods and specifications of
the NSW EPA Waste Classification Guidelines 2014.
6.16.7 Recommendation 4:
During construction, any trees to be removed shall be reused as mill-able timber wherever
practicable. Other vegetated material from native species shall be mulched and re-used on-site for
landscaping or rehabilitation purposes if consistent with the approved FFMP for the project. Weed
species, or vegetation not considered appropriate for re-use on-site, will be removed and disposed
of to an appropriately licenced facility.
6.16.8 Recommendation 5:
During construction and after considering the outcomes of relevant information that becomes
available during construction, appropriate measures are to be implemented to address identified
deficiencies or undertake actions needed to address waste related impacts. If necessary, the WMP
is to be reviewed and updated to include any additional required measures.
6.16.9 Recommendation 6:
During construction, the development is to optimise the use of onsite cut and fill so as to reduce
demand for fill from areas outside of the development area.
6.17 CLIMATE CHANGE IMPACTS
6.17.1 Existing Environment
The climate of the locality is characterised by warm summers and mild winters with rainfall normally
throughout the year (i.e., no distinct wet or dry seasons).
Climate change generally refers to increased temperatures associated with the concentration of
greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. It is now generally accepted that the release of certain gases
including carbon dioxide and methane directly leads to climate change taking place.
6.17.2 Impact Assessment
The construction of the project will result in the release of the following greenhouse gases which has
the potential to contribute to the effects of climate change:
