ABORIGINAL AND CULTURAL HERITAGE
Existing Environment
Lot 301 DP1143646 (440 Camden Valley Way) is listed as potentially having an Aboriginal heritage
item (refer to Appendix D).
6.7.2
Impact Assessment
The works associated with the project on this site are located along the immediate frontage of
Camden Valley Way and in terms of disturbance of the ground is considered relatively minor.
6.7.3
Mitigation Measures
The following mitigation measures are recommended for aboriginal and cultural heritage
management.
6.7.4
Recommendation 1:
Prior to work commencing, the actual location of the item is to be identified and if required a plan of
management put in place to either protect it or to make an application with the Department of
Planning and Environment for its removal. An AHIP will need to be obtained or the existing AHIP will
need to be transferred to relevant person undertaking the works. It is recommended that prior to
disturbance of the area and its surrounds, a suitably qualified professional undertake a physical
assessment of the site to determine if any items exist and if found appropriate action taken in
consultation with the local Aboriginal community.

Recommendation 2:
The Standard Management Procedure – Unexpected Heritage Items is to be employed during the
construction phase of the activity.

Items must be followed if a known or potential
Aboriginal object(s), including skeletal remains, is
found during construction. This would also involve
consultation with local Aboriginal groups and the
need to obtain an AHIP approval. Work may only
re-commence once the requirements of that
procedure have been satisfied.

Works should cease and an appropriately qualified person, or OEH / Heritage Office, is to be
consulted and advise on any management or mitigation measures that may be required to be
implemented should Aboriginal or European heritage items or artefacts be unearthed during the
works.
