COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
In line with the community participation objectives detailed within the Camden Community
Participation Plan 2021, Council is to inform and consult with the public on the proposed activity as
soon as practicable.
A Community Participation Plan (CCP) will be developed and published on Council’s website prior to
the commencement of construction. The CCP will identify and notify key stakeholders, both internal
and external, providing regular update on project progress. Communication channels will include:
•
•
•
6.4
Direct outreach: Letter mail-outs to adjacent landowners and site notices
Digital platforms: Regular project updates on the Council website, including project
details, timelines, completed work, relevant documentation and announcements.
Community contact: A dedicated project mailbox for community members and
stakeholders to provide feedback and inquiries.
ABORIGINAL COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
An Aboriginal Heritage Information Management System (AHIMS) search was undertaken which
identified a potential Aboriginal site in the project area (Lot 301 DP1143646 (158 Camden Valley
Way) – Aboriginal sites are recorded in or near the above location). Following the OEH's AHIP
Register, it can be confirmed that an approval to destroy has been issued for this item (AHIP No.
C0002506 dated 3/3/2017), refer to Appendix G. Works relating to the extension of Liz Kernohan
Drive will pass close to this area, however, given the existing approval to destroy, as well as the
existing disturbed nature of the works site, the risk of disturbance of further culturally significant
items is considered low.
Whilst it is considered the risk is low, it is nonetheless recommended that prior to disturbance of the
area and its surrounds, a suitably qualified professional undertake a physical assessment of the site
to determine if any items exist and if found appropriate action taken in consultation with the local
Aboriginal community.
6.5
GOVERNMENT AGENCY AND STAKEHOLDER INVOLVEMENT
No government authorities have been consulted on issues relating to the proposed development in
the preparation of this REF. Consultation is to be carried out with government agencies and other
key stakeholders where required. This consultation will include:
•
•
A copy of the REF and design is made publicly available.
Stakeholders informed prior to construction commencing.
It is envisaged there will also be on-going discussions prior to and during construction with Transport
for NSW, local bus services, NSW Police, and other emergency service providers.
6.6
ONGOING OR FUTURE CONSULTATION
Camden Council is to continue to inform residents and stakeholders of the ongoing progress of the
project in line with the Community. This will be carried out using methods such as the distribution
of updates, emails to identified stakeholders, and updates on Council’s project website.
